A bank holiday and the sun was shining so Heather demanded we go outside. As I’d been complaining that London parks (barring the big central ones) seem to all consist of nothing much but a big empty field she determined to show me different by taking the short journey (bah, busses 🙁 ) to Priory Gardens in Orpington.
Pretty rare and fine audio of Kurt Vonnegut reading from Slaughterhouse-Five.
Makes for excellent listening. It’s many years since I first read Vonnegut’s satirical (and disturbing) take on the allied bombing of Dresden (an event he was eye witness to). A truly awful and questionable event, though almost certainly not worse, as is often claimed, than the atomic explosions which were to follow.
