Ten

Ten years is a long time; or no time at all.

We note round base ten numbers more than most. Ten because we have that many fingers (or so seems to be the consensus; there have been other number bases but ten crops up more than those). Ten year’s ago today my mother left this plane. It is yesterday in my heart, and a seeming lifetime.

There have been so many moments over those past ten years (ten months, ten days) where I have wanted nothing more than to run to her arms and be safe as a child. She raised and shaped me. She held and nurtured me. And ten years ago she left.

I miss you Mammy
