Brixton: Back!

On Heather and finally made it back to Brixton Academy.

Courteeners On Stage

Under the bright lights

Following the venues closure and reopening the security is, not necessarily greater, but a bit more jumpy (and possibly beefed up in numbers). Externally the main difference is that you’re now forced to traipse around the block to queue up towards the entrance, to no discernable advantage over the previous arrangement. Inside, not a lot is different (one note—bars serving just from cans are stupid; takes twice as long to produce a drink. Install some pumps)!

We were there to see The Courteeners but first up was a welcome reunion with Mystery Jets for a support set (they obviously had some fans in the audience too).

The Courteeners were great, romping through a quick set before before Liam Fray did a little acoustic solo bit leading into the encore. A good night, and great to be back at the grand old venue.
